National Wine Agency Publishes Historic Viticulture and Winemaking Work by L. Jorjadze

As part of the National Wine Agency’s Scientific Program for the Study of Georgian Vine and Wine Culture, the historic work of L. Jorjadze has been published in book form.

The publication, “Viticulture and Wine Production, Preparation and Improvement: A Guide for Kakhetian Winemakers,” is an edited and modernized version of a historical text originally published in 1876, adapted for contemporary readers.

The book explores a wide range of viticulture and winemaking topics, including historical and statistical information, the climate of wine-growing regions, vineyard soils, winery design and management, harvest practices, wine diseases and defects, qvevri preparation, and other important subjects. The publication draws on both international literature and the author’s practical experience in the viticulture and winemaking traditions of Kakheti.

The book is intended for professionals working in the viticulture and winemaking sector, researchers, and the broader public interested in Georgian wine culture and history.

The publication was released as part of the series “Georgian Vine and Wine: Literary Heritage,” within the framework of the Scientific Project for the Study of Georgian Vine and Wine Culture, in cooperation with the Georgian Wine Association.
