Georgian Wine Tasting and Presentation Held in the United Kingdom

A Georgian wine tasting and presentation was held in Bath to raise awareness of Georgian wine and support export growth in the UK market. The event was organised by the National Wine Agency and its contractor, Swirl Wine Group.

Representatives of the media, hospitality sector, and retail chains attended. Guests had the opportunity to taste a variety of Georgian wines and learn about the history, traditions, and modern practices of Georgian winemaking.

The tasting and presentation were led by Fiona Beckett, a well-known British food and wine pairing writer, and Kate Hawkings, a Bristol-based journalist covering food, drink, and travel. Hawkings’ articles appear in leading publications, including the Financial Times, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, and Decanter.

Fiona Beckett has written about wine for many years. She previously served as The Guardian’s wine columnist and an editor at Decanter. Her articles have also appeared in The Times, Daily Mail, BBC Good Food, National Geographic Traveller Food, and Country Living.

Bath is a historic city in southwestern Britain and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

With financial support from the National Wine Agency, Swirl Wine Group is conducting a Georgian wine marketing campaign in the United Kingdom throughout 2026. The campaign includes wine tastings and seminars in various British cities, participation in international exhibitions, targeted advertising and media campaigns, and wine tours to Georgia for British wine professionals.

From January to August this year, Georgia exported approximately 268,000 litres of wine to the United Kingdom, a 37% increase compared with the same period last year.
