Documentary Film Echoes of Wine, Dedicated to Georgian Wine, Premieres in Napa Valley
The feature-length documentary Echoes of Wine, produced by the American media platform SOMM TV and dedicated to Georgian wine, premiered at the historic Cameo Cinema in Napa Valley, California—one of the world’s most renowned and prestigious winemaking regions.
The premiere was organised by Parsons Fine Imports and SOMM TV. Interest in the event was so high that all tickets sold out within a single day.
A Georgian wine tasting followed the screening. Members of the film’s creative team also shared interesting details about the production process with guests.
The feature-length documentary Echoes of Wine has been available on the SOMM TV platform since 1 July. The film introduces viewers to Georgia’s unique natural landscapes, vineyards, wine culture and a new generation of winemakers. Particular attention is given to the ancient tradition of qvevri winemaking and the diversity of Georgia’s indigenous grape varieties.
Showcasing Georgia on SOMM TV as one of the world’s oldest winemaking countries will help raise awareness of Georgian wine and increase sales in the strategically important US market.
To produce the film, a SOMM TV crew visited Georgia in May this year with the organisational and financial support of the National Wine Agency. On 8 May, the crew attended celebrations marking National Wine Day. They also visited Georgian wineries in Kakheti and Kartli, where they learned about the country’s centuries-old winemaking traditions and contemporary wine culture.
