2024 Harvest Wines Will Be Exceptional - Levan Mekhuzla

Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency, has announced that the wines from the 2024 harvest will be exceptional. Speaking on the "Business Partner" program, Mekhuzla highlighted the high quality of this year's vintage, noting that Georgian winemaking processes are on par with leading wine-producing countries.

"The 2024 vintage stands out for several reasons, including the unprecedentedly early start of the harvest," said Mekhuzla. "It has been exceptional in both quantity and quality. This year, record amounts have been paid for grapes, which is great news for farmers and their families."

Mekhuzla also emphasized the government's support for the wine sector, which has contributed to significant growth. "Between 2010 and 2020, the largest vineyard expansion was recorded, with 18,000 hectares planted. The decline in Georgian vineyards at the end of the 20th century is no longer an issue. Now, the total vineyard area has exceeded 48,000 hectares. We must continue to preserve and promote the diversity of our grape varieties," he added.
