WELCOME TO GEORGIA Awarded Airlines of the Year
Tamar Archuadze, Director of the Georgian Airports Association and a member of the award jury, revealed the airlines of the year at the Welcome to Georgia National Tourism Award Ceremony.
Wizz Air, Europe's fastest growing low-cost airline, has won the most airline nominations.At this stage, the airline operates direct flights from Kutaisi International Airport to 19 destinations in Europe and now the Middle East.
Second winner is Turkish Airlines, the airline had the highest number of passengers. In the 11 months to 2021, the airline carried a total of 247,931 passengers. Turkish Airlines has been operating flights to Tbilisi and Batumi international airports for years.
FlyArystan won the third nomination, the new airline that entered the Georgian market in 2021 and carried the most passengers. In 11 months, the airline has transported 61,864 passengers; Fly Arystan is a completely new airline for the Georgian market. It is a subsidiary of the Kazakh low-cost airline Air Astana and has been operating successfully in the Georgian market since May 2021. The airline operates flights from Kutaisi International Airport to four cities in Kazakhstan: Nur Sultan, Aktau, Atyrau and Shimkent.
Tamar Archuadze, Director of the Georgian Airports Association, expressed hope that each airline will further increase the area of operation in Georgia by 2022.
