Up to GEL 1 Billion Allocated on Development of Georgian Mountainous Regions
According to the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze, the 2019-2013 Development Strategy for Mountainous Regions aims to significantly improve the living conditions of people living in mountainous settlements and mitigate the demographic situation by 2023, taking into account the specific needs of the regions.
According to him, the document envisages measures in three directions - sustainable development of mountainous settlements, social support of the residents and access to services.
The main objectives of the Action Plan for 2021-2023 are to support tourism development, agriculture, entrepreneurship, road infrastructure, environmental protection and natural resource management, access to quality health services, access to quality education, demographic improvement, access to communal and cultural services. Development of sports infrastructure, as well as introduction of innovative management and service systems and increase of access to public services.
More than 973 million GEL will be allocated for the implementation of these goals, which is 20% more than the amount planned under the action plan for 2019-2020.
