Three New Ropeways to Serve Tourists in Bakuriani
Construction of three new ropeways has been completed in Bakuriani.
The project was commissioned by the Austrian-Swiss company Doplmeier-Garaventa Group by the order of the Mountain Resorts Development Company.
"We completed the construction of new ropeways on Didveli in record time. The ropes are built with the latest European technologies. The ropeways are one of the most important part of the new infrastructure projects and new life that we are giving to Bakuriani. As you know, in 2023 Bakuriani will host the World Freestyle Championship. This is a great responsibility, which we will respond with new projects, "- said Natia Turnava.
According to the Minister, in 2021 Bakuriani will host the first competition through new ropeways and new tracks. This will be the first test event in the cross discipline, the Ski Cross World Cup stage.
The Minister spoke about the projects implemented in Bakuriani. "A bypass road has been built, a new road to Mitarbi and Kokhta has been rehabilitated. Recreational zones are planned to be upgraded. This will give us more opportunities to host more tourists in Bakuriani, of course in accordance with safety measures and rules." , - said Turnava.
Georgia is the host country of the 2023 World Championship in skiing and snowboarding.
The cablecars are for 6 people. The capacity of all three ropeways in the first stage is 5,400 passengers per hour, which can be increased to a total of 7,200 passengers. Innovative ropes created in the region are also distinguished by the fact that they have an underground garage.
