New Birdwatching Location and Hiking Trails Arranged on Eagle Canyon

The Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Yuri Nozadze, together with the Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas, Davit Iosebashvili, inspected the ecotourism works carried out in the Eagle Canyon in the Vashlovani Protected Areas.

Within the framework of a joint project of the Agency for Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and the Caucasus Regional Environmental Center (REC Caucasus), an additional ecotourism space was arranged in the Eagle Valley with appropriate infrastructure and bridges. The 1 km long hiking trail runs deep into the canyon, from where several waterfalls can be visited. On the new Eagle Canyon hiking trail, traveling in the subtropical environment is especially impressive during the summer.

Eagle Canyon is a natural monument with beautiful landscapes, which offers a special sight to bird-watching lovers. Many species of threatened birds, including an eagle, black vulture, and firebird live there. From the rocky slopes of the gorge, it is possible to see eagle nests and rare and endangered plants, which are not found anywhere else in Georgia.
