Georgia Received $ 841 Million from International Travelers
According to the National Bank of Georgia, Georgia received $ 841 million from international travelers between January and May 2022. The highest revenue was recorded in May, when 319,000 visitors spent $ 258 million in the country.
The National Bank report includes tourism revenue by country. In this respect, the Russian Federation is in the first place, from where long-term migrants entered this year. In total, the Russians spent $ 150 million in Georgia this year. In second place are the Belarusian visitors (migrants), who spent 94.6 million in Georgia this year.
In total, in 2021, Georgia received 1 million international visitors, their expenses are distributed by countries as follows:
1) Russia - $ 150.4 million;
2) Belarus - $ 94.6 million;
3) EU (27 countries) - $ 90.3 million;
4) Ukraine - $ 82.2 million;
5) Turkey - $ 80.8 million;
6) Israel - $ 79.1 million;
7) Azerbaijan - $ 30.6 million;
8) Armenia - $ 30.0 million;
9) Saudi Arabia - $ 24.6 million;
10) Iran - $ 22.7 million;
Other countries - $ 155.7 million.
In total, tourism revenue in 2022 recovered to 75% of the pre-pandemic period - 2019 figures.
