93.5% Less Georgian Citizens Left the country in Q2
In the second quarter of this year, Georgian residents made 36,691 visits abroad, which is 93.5% less comparing to the same period of the last year, Geostat reports.
According to the report, high decline in outbound tourism is explained by the Covid-19 pandemic.
As of the statistics, the majority of visits - 88.2% - have been made by men, it can be explained that the majority of visitors accounts for freight transportation, while the most of truck drivers are men.
However, according to the data published by Geostat, the age of the majority of visitors (48.4%) ranges within 31-50 years in the second quarter of this year.
In the first half of 2019, Georgian residents made 1 million visits abroad, and in the first half of this year - 489.2 thousand, which is a decrease of 53.2%.
