IMF Mission to Visit Georgia Soon for In-Depth Cooperation Talks – Natia Turnava

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission is expected to arrive in Georgia in the near future to hold more substantive discussions on deepening cooperation, according to Natia Turnava, President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

Speaking after a high-level meeting with IMF Executive Director Jeroen Klitschko and Alternate Director Marnix van Ree, Turnava said the dialogue focused on Georgia’s macroeconomic outlook and the roadmap for future engagement with the Fund.

“In the U.S., within the framework of the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings, we met with the Executive and Alternate Directors of the International Monetary Fund. We discussed the current macroeconomic situation in Georgia and the prospects for future cooperation,” said Turnava. “We also talked about the upcoming mission, which will arrive in Georgia shortly, where we expect to have a more in-depth discussion on the key issues of further cooperation.”

The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, NBG Vice Presidents Ekaterine Mikabadze and Ekaterine Galdava, and deputy ministers from the Ministries of Finance and Economy.

Jeroen Klitschko reaffirmed the IMF’s commitment to continued engagement with Georgia and expressed anticipation for the mission’s upcoming visit.
