USAID ZRDA Invests GEL 600,000 in Tusheti Development in 2018-2021

On July 13, EXPO Georgia will host a presentation of the USAID ZRDA project for tourism business sustainable development in Tusheti.

The presentation will summarize results of interventions that were carried out for strengthening the community management, protecting environmental and natural resources and ensuring the region’s sustainable development.

According to USAID, in 2018-2021, ZRDA’s investments in Tusheti amounted to GEL 600,000, after which local residents’ revenues in Akhmeta Municipality reached GEL 4.1 million, 50% of which was recorded in Tusheti. The mentioned investments have created 45 new job places.

USAID ZRDA project launched the sustainable tourism development initiative in 2018 and made investments in the fields of agriculture, tourism and services through issuing grants, developing professional skills, organizing trainings and providing technical support to private and public sectors.

Together with the presentation, panel discussions will be also held at the event with the participation of USAID mission director Peter Wiebler, Environment Minister Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili and Tusheti Protected Landscape Administration director  Lado Kakhoidze.
