State Budget to Finance Agriculture Sector by GEL 416 million in 2021

The Government of Georgia will finance the agriculture sector by GEL 416 million in 2021, under the state budget bill.

Despite the essential financial support and large-scale subsidization, the field specialists complain about the agriculture sector development paces and the failure to commercialize the sector. Namely, the lack of qualified staff remains an unresolved problem. Land hunger is also a real challenge and specialists suggest developing the system of cooperatives.

As noted by Diana Beraia, head of the Agro Solution business direction, access to modern technologies is a serious challenge in the agriculture sector. “All these components will grow output in the agriculture sector. At this stage, Georgia is not interested in the EU market, because we cannot produce the volume of products they need. Therefore, we should develop greater cooperatives that will unite producers, buy products from farmers, and ensure exports of Georgia products to the EU market, Diana Beraia noted.
