Road Department Wins Lawsuit against Sinohydro Corporation Limited
The Road Department of Georgia has won a legal dispute against its contractor company Sinohydro Corporation Limited regarding the agreement on Kobuleti Bypass Road Construction, signed on November 26, 2012.
The dispute was initiated by the contractor company that applied to the Board of Appeals on December 29, 2019 and claimed about 38 million GEL under the pretext the Department had delayed transmission of a construction site.
“The Board of Appeals has not satisfied the appeal of Sinohydro Corporation Limited and ruled that Contractor Company is not authorized to claim compensation for the Road Department.
The Board of Appeals found the demands of the Chinese Company ungrounded, based on both the agreement and Georgian legislation.
If Sinohydro Corporation Limited continues legal dispute to the arbitration court, Road Department plans to defend its interest.
As reported, Sinohydro Corporation Limited finished the second phase of the works of Kobuleti Bypass Road in June 2018. At this stage, the company is working in the second section of Samtredia-Grigoleti motorway and Khashuri Bypass road”, the Road Department’s statement reads.
