The rehabilitation works of Melikishvili avenue have been completed. The renovated avenue was inspected by the capital's mayor Kakha Kaladze today.

"Rehabilitation of Melikishvili avenue has been completed. As we promised the public, the works were completed on December 4. Within the framework of the project, underground communications were changed, approximately 6 kilometers of communications were replaced, water drainage systems and gas pipes were renewed. As for the road infrastructure, zebra crossings were drawn, and landscaping works were carried out. This approach will continue on other avenues and streets as well. Unfortunately, many streets are in a difficult condition, they need to be renewed with their underground communications, similar approaches will be continued on all of them in order to organize Tbilisi in every possible way," said Kakha Kaladze.

According to Tbilisi City Hall, underground and above-ground communication networks were rehabilitated, new drainage and outdoor lighting networks were organized, modern LED lamps were installed, and underground bins were arranged in front of the Tbilisi State Concert Hall and in the vicinity of Veri Park, within the framework of the project, on Melikishvili Avenue - from Varaziskhevi to Chovelidze Street. Also, overhead cables were placed underground. Waterproofing works were carried out in the underground passage adjacent to the Tbilisi State Concert Hall, the pavement was paved with natural stone slabs, and a three-layer asphalt coating was laid on the roadway.

For the safe movement of pedestrians, traffic islands, new waiting areas, and zebra crossings were organized, a special lane was allocated for public transport, the existing infrastructure on the avenue was adapted for disabled people, landscaping works were carried out and various types of trees and plants were planted.

It should be noted that similar thorough rehabilitation works were carried out on Melikishvili Avenue for the first time.
