Natia Turnava Comments on WizzAir Leaving its Base in Georgia
WizzAir is not going anywhere, the company feels comfortable in Georgia, it continues to cooperate with the Georgian government and remains loyal to its customers, the citizens of Georgia, - Natia Turnava said in a comment on WizzAir leaving the bases in Georgia.
According to the Minister, the Hungarian airline has been operating in Georgia since 2012 and the Georgian government has done everything possible to expand its area.
Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, WizzAir operated from Georgia to about 30 destinations and announced another 10 new destinations.
According to the Minister of Economy, today the global aviation industry is facing great difficulties and naturally, any airline is trying to reduce costs, redesigning various aircraft, which is a purely technical issue. Therefore, it does not matter whether the WizzAir aircraft will park its planes at Kutaisi Airport or if it will be transferred to one of its bases.
"The main thing is that WizzAir doesn't go anywhere. The company’s application has been officially filed regarding the resumption of flights and is awaiting our notification. At any time, we will be ready and considering that certain directions should be activated in compliance with all security measures, WizzAir will continue its flights and the company itself will confirm this in the near future, "- said Natia Turnava.
