Heads of Railways Opened a General Meeting of the Middle Corridor in Tbilisi

Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili opened the Middle Corridor, which has been promoting intermodal and multimodal transportation since 2013 and is actively working to increase freight traffic in the corridor.

At the annual general meeting representatives of the railway participated in the Middle Corridor. They are working on increasing the capacity of the international transport route, attracting new cargoes, penetrating tariffs, and improving services.

The General Assembly of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route is being held in Georgia for the second time. Heads of railways of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey arrived in Tbilisi on a working visit. The General Director of Georgian Railways made a speech at the general meeting. Davit Peradze spoke about the role of the middle corridor and how important it is for the development of the company.

"It should be noted that the meeting of such a scale coincided with the anniversary of the Georgian Railways. At the general meeting, we talked about the competitiveness of the middle corridor and future plans. Due to the current geopolitical situation, the demand for the route is quite large. Our goal is to transport as much cargo as possible in the corridor and to increase the indicators of freight shipments of the Georgian Railway," said Davit Feradze.
