Government to Subsidize Vintage, Sets 80 Tetri as the Lowest Bid for Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane
The Government of Georgia has decided to subsidize the 2020 vintage.
Furthermore, the government has determined the minimum price for Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane – 80 Tetri, Prime Minster Giorgi Gakharia noted at the Government’s meeting on July 9.
Corresponding financial resources have been already allocated from the state budget and the Agriculture Ministry has received corresponding instructions. If necessary, even the Government will intervene in sales, Giorgi Gakharia pointed out.
“The vintage is coming. Village and rural sector, farmers, and Georgian peasants are one of the key directions of the Government’s bailout plan. We are doing our best to strengthen Georgian peasants.
We see how the viticulture and winemaking are developed over the past few years. We received record results when the country exported 94 million bottles of wines. Domestic consumption was also growing. In general, winemaking accounted for 2.5% in Georgian exports in 2012. Today, the figure has risen to 6%. This is a very serious dynamics of development, Giorgi Gakharia noted.
