Government of Georgia: About 100,000 Citizens Have Lost Jobs

After the COVID-19 outbreak in Georgia, about 100,000 citizens have lost job places, Deputy Finance Minister Giorgi Kakauridze noted after the parliament’s hearing on October 12.

About 20,000 citizens will regain their incomes in 2021, Kakauridze added. ”The number of employees will increase in 2021, thanks to investments and growing economic activities. We expect about 20,000 citizens to regain incomes.

They lost job places because of the pandemic. According to the reports submitted by companies, about 100,000 citizens have lost job places’, Giorgi Kakauridze noted. BMG has requested official statistics about how many citizens have received a 200-GEL unemployment compensation over the past 6months. According to official statistics, over 161.905 citizens have received 200-GEL assistance. The number of beneficiaries due to months: May – 14,426,200 GEL transferred to 72,131 bodies; June – 28,760,200 GEL transferred to 143,801 citizens; July – 25,486,000 GEL transferred to 127,430 citizens; August – 19,353,000 GEL transferred to 96,765 citizens; September – 18,263,000 GEL transferred to 91,315 citizens.
