Georgian PM: We are Ready to Host EuroBasket with New Sports Palace in Place
Now that the new Sports Palace has been finalized, we are ready to host EuroBasket, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili told the press after visiting the newly built Tbilisi Sports Palace.
The Head of Government thanked the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs and the implementing construction company, emphasizing that the latter built this unique complex within record-breaking deadlines.
According to the Prime Minister, EuroBasket will be held on September 1, while earlier, on July 4, the palace will host a test match.
"I want to inform our citizens that our country is ready to host EuroBasket to be held in September. Earlier, July 4, a test match will be held. With the new Sports Palace in place, we are ready to host EuroBasket. I would like to thank the Ministry of Culture and Sport, also the implementing construction company, which, one may say, has built this beautiful, unique complex within record-breaking deadlines. And I would like to congratulate our sports fans on this day," the Prime Minister said.
On his visit to the newly built Tbilisi Sports Palace, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili was accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs, Thea Tsulukiani.
The new Sports Palace, with its crowd capacity reaching 10,000 viewers, occupies 25,000 m2. This multifunctional athletic space can host sports and cultural events of any kind or scope.
The palace is built in line with modern standards and equipped with the latest technology. The new Sports Palace will host the first EuroBasket test match on July 4.
