Georgian International Arbitration Center Approves New Arbitration Board
The Georgian International Arbitration Center, which operates at the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), has approved new members to the Arbitration Board, the GCCI reports.
Besides Georgian citizens, the new board also includes leading practitioners in the international arbitration field. These changes were covered by the Global Arbitration Review (GAR), the world’s most influential and recognized edition in the arbitration field.
Four new foreign members of the Arbitration Board are as follows: Ias Banifatem (Shearman & Sterling), Patricia Shonez(Stockholm University), Steven Finitsio (WilmerHale), Markian Kliuchkovski (Asters), Francisco Amalo (Martinez de Hoz & Rueda). As for 3 Georgian members: Elene Gogadze (Sheppard, Mullin, Richter and Hampton LLP), Nata Ghibradze(Hogan Lovells), and Maia Bakradze.
Furthermore, Ketevan Betaneli has been elected as a new chairperson of the Arbitration Court (Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Paris). She has a multiyear experience of working for Georgian and international arbitrations.

In the selection process, we have taken into account their qualification, reputation and experience in the arbitration field. Furthermore, special emphasis was made on the nationality of the board members, knowledge of languages and jurisdictions of various countries.
