Georgia Plans to Purchase Electricity from Turkey

Georgia plans to purchase electricity from Turkey.

The Commercial Operator of the Electricity System (ESCO) has already announced an expression of interest in importing electricity from Turkey by November.

The estimated import volume is 120.35 million kWh.

Interested companies must submit applications by 17:00 on 12 October.

If the tender is successful, this will be the first case of purchasing electricity from Turkey. Until now, on the contrary, we were selling electricity in Turkey. For example, in 8 months of this year, exports amounted to 60.3 million kWh. In 2019, exports were 113 million kWh, and in 2018, 386.2 million kWh.
