Genadi Arveladze: We hope that Export of Georgian Products to Hungary will Increase Further

Prospects for further deepening of cooperation between Georgia and Hungary were discussed at the 4th sitting of the Georgian-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Tbilisi.

The parties explain that there is potential for expanding cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, tourism, agriculture, environment and energy, transport, communications and innovation, education and science, culture and sport.

According to 2020 data, the trade turnover between Hungary and Georgia increased by 4%, while the export of Georgian products to the Hungarian market increased by 20%.

"Promoting the growth of the share of Georgian products in the European market and the maximum use of the opportunities provided by Georgian companies under the DCFTA agreement is one of our priorities. Therefore, the double-digit growth of Georgian exports to the Hungarian market is welcome and we hope that with joint steps this trend will be maintained and further increased in the future, "- said the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze.

The Georgian side stressed the importance of resuming flights from Kutaisi Airport by the Hungarian airline WizzAir, which will help attract international visitors to the country and gradually restore tourism.

Within the framework of the commission session, the Georgian Agricultural Research Center signed a memorandum with the Hungarian Agricultural University.

The Hungarian government delegation also visited different parts of Georgia.

The meeting was co-chaired by Genadi Arveladze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and Tamas Varga, State Secretary for Civic Intelligence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.
