Fairs and Markets Failing Standards will Remain Closed

As explained by the Georgian Agriculture Minister, the majority of registered agricultural markets and fairs in Georgia cannot satisfy the standards and they will not be let resume operation.

“About 80 agricultural markets and fairs are registered in Georgia, but the majority of them fail to satisfy standards. Consequently, we should not expect that all markets will resume operation, because they must meet all requirements, including, sanitation supervision, obligatory wearing of facemasks and so on”, Levan Davitashvili noted.

Markets will resume operation as soon as they meet regulations, in stages, the Agriculture Minster added.

“The markets that comply with the standards stay in communication with the National Food Agency and the final decision is made jointly by the Agency and the local staffs”, the Minister noted.
