Electric Buses to Run on the Streets of Batumi from Autumn

Electric buses will appear on the streets of Batumi from autumn. Batumi will be the first city in Georgia where electric buses will run.

"This is the first electric bus in Georgia. Our goal is to improve the municipal transport system and at the same time the ecological situation. Work on the renewal of the car fleet is still underway. We are gradually implementing projects in this direction, which will have a positive impact on the future of our city, ”Batumi Mayor Lasha Komakhidze wrote on his Facebook page.

8 new white electric buses with a length of 9.5 meters are designed for 70 passengers. The new electric buses are of modern standards, adapted for people with disabilities. The transport will be equipped with heating and air conditioning. It will also have a voice system and video cameras installed. Charging electric buses will be possible within 10 minutes.

The tender for the purchase of new buses was announced by the EBRD, where the company BKM won. The cost of the project is 4 million euros.
