Economy Minister Divulges Plans for Laying Black Sea High-Voltage Transmission Cable to Europe

The high-voltage electricity transmission line will be laid on the Black Sea bed to connect Georgia-EU power grids, Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava noted.

This project was one of the issues that the Georgian delegation discussed with European colleagues in Brussels as part of the Association Council meeting, Natia Turnava said. The mentioned idea was proposed 2-3 years ago and this is a project of historical importance, Natia Turnava noted.

“The World Bank has already affirmed readiness to fully finance the project’s feasibility studies and we have already notified our friends and colleagues about this. It is also very important that western companies take part in this project. Therefore, EU corresponding structures have urged western companies to participate in funding the feasibility studies and attracting investors and contractors”, the Georgian Economy Minister noted.
