Discussions Regarding Economic Development Issues is Underway between Georgian Government and Investors
Apart from attractiveness of investing in Georgia, greater support of the private sector, new Draft Law of Georgia on Insolvency, development of a securities market and other significant issues related to the private sector were discussed at the 11th Meeting of the Investors Council chaired by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia at the Government Administration today.
"We believe that Investors Council is a significant platform enabling cooperation between the government and the private sector. As you may well be aware, fast economic growth and job creation is a priority of the Government of Georgia. Of course we stand ready to deepen our cooperation with the private sector within the platform of the Investors Council" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Head of Government of Georgia introduced Giorgi Cherkezishvili, new Secretary of the Investors Council at its 11th Meeting, along with the newly joined members: German Business Association and Georgia-Turkey Business Association.
Meeting also engaged Catarina Bjorlin Hansen, Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the Caucasus. In her opinion, Investors Council is a unique platform for an open discussion of all the crucial issues by and between the government and private sector.
Among the important topics of private sector advancement and facilitation, special focus was made on the new Draft Law of Georgia on Insolvency, which will be presented by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia at the upcoming Executive Government Meeting as instructed by the Prime Minister of Georgia. Also, focus was made on various essential measures to be taken for the development of the securities market of Georgia, including the Draft Law on Investment Funds. They will be discussed also at an Executive Government Meeting in the nearest future.
Discussions were also related to the further advancement of various topics, including those envisaged in the EU Association Agenda. Prime Minister of Georgia once again noted within a common position of the Investors Council that every decision will only be taken as a result of consultations and thorough discussions with the private sector.
11th Meeting of the Investors Council held at the Government Administration today was also attended by members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Georgia; H.E. Justin McKenzie Smith, UK Ambassador to Georgia; Michael Cowgill, President of AmCham; Zviad Chumburidze, Secretary General of the EU-Georgia Business Council; Business Ombudsman; Joseph Pkhakadze, President of Business Association of Georgia (BAG) and representative of other local or foreign business organizations.
