Construction of Basque Culinary Academy Begins in Gurjaani

In cooperation with the Caucasus University and the Culinary Center of the Basque Country in Gurjaani, the construction of a gastronomy academy begins, in which about 17 million GEL will be invested.

The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

According to the Ministry, the construction of the Academy of Gastronomy will be carried out by the LEPL Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

The agency explains that the College of Modern Standards will have theoretical training classrooms, conference and demonstration halls, a restaurant, kitchen, refrigerator, and storage space. The school will be equipped with the latest equipment and inventory.

The project will build a campus for 50 students, a gym, and a recreational area. The building will be fully adapted for people with special needs.

According to the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Merab Chkhenkeli, leading foreign specialists will be very actively involved in the field of vocational education.

According to Davit Songhulashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Sectoral Economics and Economic Policy, the establishment of the Basque Academy means the creation of a new attraction center for tourism.

"Implementing the project will allow Georgia to find itself on a gastronomic map, which will create additional jobs in the region," Songhulashvili said.
