“Blueberry Exports Recorded Significant Growth This Year” – Lasha Dolidze
Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Lasha Dolidze met with blueberry producers and importers.
The meeting aimed to review the results of the recently concluded blueberry season and discuss the sector’s challenges and future development prospects.
Private sector representatives assessed the season’s performance and discussed sales and exports. Particular attention was paid to the impact of climate change on crop quality, price trends, logistical challenges and the importance of diversifying export markets.
According to Lasha Dolidze, ongoing communication and cooperation between the government and farmers are essential for the sector’s sustainable development, enabling effective decisions that address its needs and challenges.
“The end of the blueberry season provides a good opportunity to review the results and lessons learned, as well as to hear the views of farmers and sector representatives. Significantly, blueberry exports recorded substantial growth this year, with export volumes considerably exceeding last year’s figures.
“Going forward, meetings with sector representatives will be held regularly at the beginning, during and at the end of each season. We must use the experience gained each season to overcome existing challenges and create conditions that enable farmers to further develop their production.
“Our goal is to support increased production, improved quality and the expansion of export markets through continuous communication and cooperation with the sector, ultimately ensuring its stable and sustainable development,” said Deputy Minister Lasha Dolidze.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, was also attended by Deputy Minister Lasha Avaliani and senior officials from the ministry’s relevant agencies.
