Azerbaijani Airline to Perform Cargo Flights from USA to Georgia

Silk Way West Airlines will perform cargo flights in the Chicago-Tbilisi-Baku direction, the Ministry of Economy of Georgia reports.

This is a new project in Georgia’s air market, Economy Minister Natia Turnava said. “It is very important that cargo flights will be fulfilled from the USA to Georgia. This is a very positive fact for the Georgian economy because cargo flights and air freights will increase. We had very good dynamics in 2020-2021”, the Minister said.

The cargo flights in the mentioned direction will be fulfilled under the so-called the Fifth Freedom of Air. Namely, the Azerbaijani airline will transport part of the cargoes to Tbilisi from the USA and then continue the flight to Baku, Natia Turnava said. The first Chicago-Tbilisi-Baku cargo flight will be fulfilled on August 10. The Civil Aviation Agency issued the operational license to the Azerbaijani airline on August 6.
