The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Invited Levan Akin to Membership

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences extended invitations to join the organization to 819 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures.

Among the 2020 invitees is Levan Akin, director of one of the most well-known films of 2019, And Then We Danced.

It is also noteworthy, that 819 new members were elected from 68 countries around the world. Along with Levan Akin, new members of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are Bobby Cannavale, Cynthia Erivo, Ana de Armas, Eva Longoria, Natasha Lyonne, Olivia Wilde, Ari Aster, Mati Diop, Lulu Wang, and others.

“The Academy is delighted to welcome these distinguished fellow travelers in the motion picture arts and sciences.  We have always embraced extraordinary talent that reflects the rich variety of our global film community, and never more so than now,” said Academy President David Rubin.
