Tbilisi Vice Mayor Pledges to Spend EUR 60 Million on Rehabilitating 10 Subway Stations

Guramishvili, Station Square, Sarajishvili, Marjanishvili, Liberty Square, 300 Aragvelis, Rustaveli, Isani, Tsereteli Avenu, and Nadzaladevi – Tbilisi City Hall will spend EUR 60 million on rehabilitating the mentioned subway stations, Tbilisi Vice Mayor Irakli Khmaladze noted on September 13 when introducing the municipal transport policy documents and added that the project will be implemented in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

“We have bought approximately 40 carriages for our subway. In addition, 52 carriages will be repaired to increase the safety of passengers. Together with EBRD, we have been working on the project for rehabilitating 10 subway stations. The project is an estimated EUR 60 million”, Khmaladze said. In order to ensure affordable and comfortable transportation services, the municipality will introduce a system of subscribers with weekly, monthly, semiannual, and annual membership fees, Irakli Khmaladze said.
