Tbilisi City Hall to Pay EUR 1.85 Million to DOPPELMAYR for Finishing Mtatsminda-Rustaveli Cableway
According to the agreement published on the State Procurement Agency website, Tbilisi Transport Company of Tbilisi City Hall will pay GEL 7.4 million to DOPPELMAYR company for finishing the Mtatsminda-Rustaveli cableway.
The Austrian company will fulfill various engineering works, based on the mentioned finances. Tbilisi Transport Company has announced another tender worth GEL 7.4 million.
The winning company will build the main structure of the cableway in 15 months. Mtatsminda-Rustaveli cableway construction project was signed in June 2012, but since then technical parameters were changed several times. Under the 2012 contract, the cableway technological part has been already manufactured and EUR 4 million has been paid for it. However, these materials have not been conveyed to Georgia yet and they are stored at Doppelmayr storehouses in Austria and Switzerland.
The project implementation was protracted after the cableway location was changed. Initially, the down station was projected near Radisson hotel, but in 2016 this place was moved to the building of the Academy of Sciences. Tbilisi City Hall has already bought off 11 residential buildings nearby the Academic of Sciences.
