Smiling Georgia Becomes Winner of East Doc Platform
New documentary of Georgian film director, Keti Machavariani will be screened at Canadian film festival Hot Docs.
The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival is the largest documentary festival in North America, which has a longstanding history. The event takes place annually in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Hot Docs will start on April 29th this year and will be finished on May 9th. 219 works from 66 countries have been submitted to the festival in 2021.
The protagonist of the documentary Mziuri is a woman, who visits houses in different districts within the frameworks of her sociological research.
"Mziuri enables the spectators to enter Tbilisian houses and see the different lives of completely different people.", notes the director.
Last year, Mziuri participated in CineDoc Tbilisi and Paris DOC, as well as won the Beldocs in Progress Industrial Program Award at the Belgrade International Documentary Film Festival.
