Renovation of Historic Streets of Dusheti Costs GEL 5,7 Million
The second phase of renovation of the historic streets of Dusheti begins. The Municipal Development Fund has already announced a tender worth 5.7 million.
The project is funded by the World Bank. Bidding in the tender start on August 23 and end on August 28.
As it is indicated in the tender application, the project covers rehabilitation of certain buildings located on Rustaveli, Erekle II, Chavchavadze, Shamanauri, St.Nino and Kostava streets.
These streets bring together buildings of the 19th and 20th centuries, which have a culturally and historically valuable cultural heritage status, distinctive architectural designs. The aim of the project is the restoration-rehabilitation of the mentioned buildings, their restoration and presentation in their original form.
It's noteworthy, the current deplorable condition of the houses. Facades have not been repaired for a long time. Unsystematic artificial transformations of recent years have changed the original look of buildings. The main goal of the project is to restore the exterior of the buildings. Consequently, a large part of the design work concerns the facades and roofs. At the same time, the indicated sections of the streets will be improved -roadway, sidewalks will be rehabilitated, lighting will be arranged.
All wooden balconies or windows will be restored with appropriate wooden elements. Part of the details is restored, part - is restored by analogy with the existing one.
