Rehabilitation of Orbeliani Square Completed
Rehabilitation of the Orbeliani square has been completed in the framework of the project "New Tiflis" major rehabilitation program.
Rehabilitation started in June 2017 and it took two years to complete the works.
In the frames of rehabilitation, the engineering and communications networks have been fully altered in Orbeliani Square and adjacent streets (Pkhovi, Purtseladze, Atoneli, Tabukashvili and Khidi streets): the drainage system was arranged, sewerage and drainage networks were renewed, as well as supply of water, electricity and natural gas weak power systems.
In total, the cost of the works amounted to 10.5 million GEL.
20 buildings in this historical area have been restored and rehabilitated. Among them 13 monuments of historical and cultural heritage. Ten out of the 20 buildings were rebuilt.
In addition to the buildings, the internal yards were fully renewed. All the architectural and artistic details of the monuments have been restored. Decorative lighting was installed on the buildings. The cost of this part of the rehabilitation is 45 million GEL.
During the rehabilitation process, Arrangement of artistic shopping pavilions adapted to the special, environmental environment is planned for the flower market. In the process of rehabilitation, the construction of four hotels and two commercial and commercial facilities started on rehabilitation streets, total cost of which is about 15 mln GEL.
Flower markets will be placed in specially arranged pavilions.
