Registration for Bakuriani World Cup Tournaments Closed

In several days, the World Cup tournaments will start in Bakuriani under the aegis of the International Ski Federation (FIS).

On February 26, 27, and 28 SKI-Cross World Cup stage will be held, while the Snowboard Cross stage will take place on March 3, 4, and 5.

Registration for both stages has been finished. A total of 134 foreign athletes will visit Bakuriani from 15 countries (Japan, the USA, Great Britain, Spain, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Canada, Netherlands, Switzerland, South Korea, Austria, Australia, Argentina).

This is a unique tournament because the first-ever Ski Cross Mixed Team Event will hold in Georgia. One (1) girl and one (1) boy will be represented by each team for the Ski-Cross event.

Snowboard Cross tournaments will be also very spectacular, where 4 athletes will simultaneously take the start and the fastest one will cross the finish line first.

Preparatory works were underway a month ago together with representatives of the International Ski Federation (FIS) and Mountain Resorts Development Company. Tracks are being cleaned and covered by artificial snow. Foreign guests, athletes, and FIS delegates have already arrived in Bakuriani. The final inspection of the track is being carried out under their supervision.

“I have arrived in Georgia for the second time. I am happy to have returned here. The greater part of the works has been finished. All of us are motivated. The tracks are in good condition. I am waiting for the inauguration of the 2021 World Cup stages in Bakuriani”, FIS technical delegate Pascal Perret noted.

Regretfully, the fans cannot attend these important and spectacular events in 2021. All events will be held in compliance with FIS-prepared COVID-19 protocol and regulations.

Each day of the tournaments will be broadcast on live air by EuroSport, EuroNews Georgia, and Silk Universal.

We remind you that Silknet provides general sponsorship and support to Georgian Ski Federation.
