Prime Minister’s Instructions for Economy Ministry and Georgian Post for Assisting Elderly over 70 Years Old

In order to prevent the coronavirus spread, the Georgian Government urges aged people over 70 years old to stay in self-isolation and calls on each citizen to show civil responsibility.

“We should understand that the Government’s resources are not sufficient and it is unreal that only the Government tackle this global challenge. Civil responsibility of each citizens is of vital importance in this situation.

First, we should realize that we should care for our elders. This is critically important issue, especially aged people over 70 years old”, Giorgi Gakharia told reporters after the Government’s interdepartmental coordination board.

As explained by the Prime Minister, the Government has prepared a plan how to serve aged people in self-isolation.

“The Government recommends that all aged person over 70 years old must remain in self-isolation. This is a vitally important aspect and we should realize that this is our obligation. To fulfill this mission, today the Economy Ministry and Georgian Post were instructed to arrange a corresponding mechanism to provide everyday services for socially vulnerable people and pensioners over 70 years old”, the Prime Minister said.
