Passenger Movement Suspended between Georgia and Russian Federation Today

A phone conversation was held this morning under the directive of Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia between Zurab Abashidze, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Georgia in Relations with the Russian Federation and Grigori Karasin, Head of Russian Delegation in the Bilateral Dialogue of Georgia and Russia (the so-called Prague Format) and Member of the Council of Federation at the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Considering the threat of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) influx, phone conversation was focused on the suspension of passenger movement between Georgia and Russian Federation from March 16, 2020.

It was noted during the phone conversation that this decision will not apply to returning citizens of Russian Federation and Georgia. 

Restrictions will not apply to the transportation of cargo across the border.
