Mestia Locked Down for Entrance and Exit
Due to the worsened epidemiological situation in Mestia district, the Government of Georgia has taken decision to lock down the Municipality for exit and entrance. Furthermore, the Government has banned intercommunication between Mestia and the municipality villages.
Only commercial banks, food stores and outdoor facilities are entitled to continue operation in Mestia, Ushguli and Lenjeri.
“In public locations, strict control was introduced on social distancing, wearing facemasks and protection of hygiene regulations”, the Coordination Board chairman Aleksandre Khojevanishvili noted.
Police units will control entrance and exit regime in the Municipality, while all tourists will be quarantined.
“All citizens leaving the Municipality will be quarantined”, Khojevanishvili added.
Furthermore, citizens who have visited Mestia, Ushguli and Lenjeri over the past 2 weeks must apply to doctors for testing or dial 112, in case of COVID-19 symptoms.
As reported, sixteen (16) new infection cases were recorded in Mestia Municipality.
