International Museum Day Marks In Georgia

Since 1977, according to the ICOM (International Council of Museums), this day is celebrated by open doors day in all over the world.

The exhibitions, educational programs, conferences, lectures and other activities are held in every museum. Due to the International Museum Day, traditionally, on May 18, from 10 am till 5 pm entrance to all GNM museums will be free of charge!

This will be following program at the open air museum of ethnography:

10:00 - 17:00 – Excursions in various ethnographic zones; revived stories;

11:00 – Talks about ecology;

11:00 – Archeology as an entertainment;

12:00 – Prehistoric technologies (making of stone weapons);

13:00 – Cognitive-entertainment games: "Traditional competition in archery", "primer hunter";

13:00 - 17:00 – Folk crafts’ lessons: Traditional craftsmanship, traditional knitting, traditional pottery, wood crossing. 🏛 Venue: G. Chitaia Open Air Museum of Ethnography, 25 M. Berdzenishvili Str. (Turtle Lake Road). Tbilisi, Georgia.

12:00 – Svanetian folk musical concert accompanied by the folk group "Jg'ragish" 🏛 Venue: Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography, 7 A. Ioseliani St., Mestia, Georgia.
