Georgian Textile Companies to Produce Facemasks

Georgia-based textile factories are ready to launch active production of facemasks, Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava noted at the meeting with the industry representatives on March 16.

At the meeting, the parties discussed how to manufacture face masks in Georgia amid the coronavirus spread. The Economy Minister pledges that the Government will provide overall support to production of facemasks and virus-resistant things.

Directors of the companies showed readiness to engage in virus prevention measures, together with the Government and Georgian citizens

Part of the company showed readiness to transmit facemasks to the state free of charge.

Representatives of about 20 textile companies have attended the meeting.

At this stage, Georgia has registered 35 infected persons. A total of 637 citizens remain in quarantine and 54 persons are under special supervision at inpatient clinics.
