Georgian figure skater Moris Kvitelashvili won the ticket for the Winter Olympic Games in Sweden’s capital Stockholm on Saturday.
The 2021 World Figure Skating Championships were held in Stockholm, Sweden from March 22–28, 2021. Figure skaters competed for the title of world champion in men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance.
Stockholm was announced as the host in June 2018. It was the first time that Stockholm had hosted the World Championships since 1947 and the first time that Sweden had hosted since 2008. The competition was used to determine the entry quotas for each federation at the 2022 World Championships and the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Moris Kvitelashvili is the second athlete who qualified for the Games for Georgia after Skater Alina Urushadze’s success.
With the total of 231,81 points by summing results of two programs, Kvitelashvili is among 23 sportsmen from 18 countries, who qualified for the Olympic Games among 33 sportsmen of 26 countries.
In Men Free category, Georgia holds the 4th place after Russia, France and Italy.
