First Trailer of Spy Drama Released- Starring Merab Ninidze and Benedict Cumberbatch

The first trailer of the upcoming spy drama "The Courier" has been released.

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch and famous Georgian actor Merab Ninidze play the main roles in the picture produced by Lionsgate Film Studio. The latter was nominated for a British Award for Performance, BIFA.

The film is based on a true story. Ninidze plays a KGB colonel, Penkowski, who collaborated with British intelligence in the 1960s.

The premiere of the spy thriller has been postponed several times, originally the film was supposed to be released in August 2020, however due to the Coronavirus pandemic the release date has been changed several times, according to the latest information the picture will be released in cinemas on March 19 this year. The winners of the BIFA Awards will be announced on 16 February.

The Courier premiered on January 24, 2021 at the Sundance International Film Festival.
