Embassy of US Sums the Results of Georgia-US Relations in 2019

As a result of active cooperation between the United States and Georgia, bilateral partnerships have been strengthened by the implementation of strategically important decisions in 2019, according to information released by the Georgian Embassy in the United States. In particular, according to the embassy:

- In 2019, security and defense cooperation has moved to a qualitatively new stage and a US-Georgia security framework agreement has been signed at the Pentagon aimed at Georgia's readiness and capacity building and modernization of its defense forces.

- In 2019, a high level of support for Georgia at the legislative level was highlighted by a number of bipartisan resolutions and legislative acts, most notably:

- Georgia got increased funding in the US Budget Law for the 2020 fiscal year (United Properties Act) equaled 132,025,000 million.

- In the course of 2017 - 2018, the statement supporting Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity was incorporated into the 2019 Budget Law and the US National Defense Authorization Act.

- The US Congress views Georgia as an "important friend and partner" and supports active cooperation in all areas, including promoting bilateral trade and enhancing Georgia's defense and security.

- As a result of the deepening of the Georgia-US trade-economic partnership in 2019, new FDI from the United States up to USD 100 million has been invested in Georgia.

- Also, in 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the US Department of Commerce to enhance trade and economic relations between our countries.
