Dekhviri and Rustavi Fortresses to Grant a Category of National Importance
The resolution on giving Rustavi and Dekhviri fortresses a category of National Importance already entered into force.
Dekhviri fortress is located in the municipality of Tsageri. Archeologists discovered remains of a fortress from the middle ages in July of 2019. Researching this fortress was started by specialists with financial assistance from 2015.
Rustavi fortress was one of the fortresses built around Tbilisi to protect the capital. During its existence, the fortress has had three different walls. It is the only fortress in Georgia which has frescoes.
