CFDA Names Demna Gvasalia as International Women's Designer of the Year
International Women's Designer of the Year award recipient became Demna Gvasalia on the CFDA Awards 2021 Ceremony.
In June 2016, the Balenciaga house presented its first men runway show for the Spring Summer 17 collection and Demna Gvasalia’s debut menswear offering. Demna Gvasalia sought to define and assert new men silhouettes through tailoring, the foundation of Balenciaga. On December 5th 2016, Demna Gvasalia won the International Ready-To-Wear Designer award at The Fashion Awards.
CFDA is a not-for-profit trade association founded in 1962, whose membership consists of 477 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry and accessory designers.
The mission of the CFDA is to strengthen the impact of American fashion in the global economy. The CFDA Foundation, Inc. is a separate not-for-profit organization, which was created to raise funds for charity and industry activities. In addition to hosting the annual CFDA Fashion Awards, the trade organization owns the Fashion Calendar.
