Archeological Museum of Mtskheta to Situate in a New Building from 2020

On the base of the former, old film theater building, the archeological museum of modern standards will be housed. The project was carried out by the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure with the financial support of the World Bank. 

The full investment price exceeds 9.6 million GEL.

As a result of the reconstruction of the building, it will include conference and exhibition halls, storage facilities, cafeteria, and administrative storerooms.

Within the frameworks of the project, conservation works of the archeological monument, Mtskheta Gate was carried out. The public space has been developed and now is equipped with outdoor lighting and other infrastructural elements.

The museum will involve up to 23,000 archaeological artefacts, which are now stored in the repositories of Mtskheta district administration building.

Due to the current circumstances, the museum is not able to receive guests. The exposition space will be opened after stabilization of epidemiological situation.

The project was prepared by the architect of "Georgia's Heritage", Zaza Iashvili.

The construction works were carried out by the winner company of the tender, Java.
