79 Georgian Pupils Studying in the US have Been Returned by a Special Flight
The 79 Georgian pupils who were in the United States have already arrived in Georgia. Their return was made possible by the cooperation of the governments of Georgia and the United States.
The American side ensured the transportation of the pupils to Doha, the capital of Qatar, and the Government of Georgia provided them with transportation to Tbilisi via a special flight. Thirty-five pupils from Armenia, who were also in the United States together with their Georgian peers, also arrived in Tbilisi.
The pupils underwent mandatory thermal screening at Tbilisi International Airport, after which they were moved to two quarantine zones in Tbilisi, in full compliance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Healthcare.
They were transported by bus, where they were seated in a checkerboard pattern. They will spend 14 days in quarantine, after which they will return to their families. While in quarantine, the pupils will be provided with three meals per day and personal hygiene items. They will be under round-the-clock medical observation and the quarantine zones themselves will be guarded by police officers.
The National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy organized the setting up of quarantine spaces in 86 hotels across Georgia as part of the measures aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus, in accordance with the decision of governmental Coordination Council and the ordinance of the government.
It should be noted that in order to gradually repatriate Georgian citizens, the governmental Coordination Council has determined the additional flights that will take place from other European and Asian cities, allowing Georgian citizens to return to their homeland.
