3 Georgian Films Compete to Become Oscar Nominee This Year
The Georgian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2021's Academy Awards will be selected out of three candidates.
Georgian cinematographers could apply until September 30th, the Georgian National Film Center reports.
After the expiration of the term, three Georgian films were shortlisted for the status of Georgian nominee for the Oscar this year:
1. Beginning - Dea Kulumbegashvili;
2. Negative Numbers - Uta Beria;
3. Ursusi - Otar Shamatava.
A special commission will reveal the candidate film of Georgia from the submitted films on the basis of secret ballot. Screening of qualified films for the commission members is scheduled for early October.
The candidate film will be announced by October 10th.
